Population of Isle of Palms
According to the Isle of Palms fire department, the year-round population is currently around 5,000 (2000 U.S. Census indicated 4,583). However, there is an influx of vacationers and visitors during the summer months.
The island is a "melting pot" of people with diverse backgrounds. Politicians, movie stars, blue color workers, physicians, families, retirees, race car drivers…all live here.
Homes on the island range in size from less than 1,000 square feet (pre-hurricane Hugo) to 8,600+ square feet (zoning rules now prohibit building a home this size). In addition, there are condos and town homes throughout the island.
